IRA J. BERMAN, M.D.
Dr. Berman is a graduate of Johns
Hopkins University and The University of Maryland School of Medicine, where he also completed his dermatology training. Currently, Dr. Berman is a consultant in Dermatology to Medicare and Highmark Blue Shield. He has served as an Assistant Professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and as an instructor at The University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.

Dr. Berman is a leader in the field of dermatology.  He is a past president of The Pennsylvania Academy of Dermatology and former Chief of Dermatology at York Hospital. He is an expert in product formulation and serves on the Board of Trustees of the American Society of Cosmetic Dermatology.

In addition, Dr. Berman is Board Certified by the American Board of Dermatology and maintains memberships in several professional specialty societies, including:

  • American Academy of Dermatology
  • American Society of Dermatologic Surgery
  • American Society of Cosmetic Dermatology and Aesthetic Surgery
  • Pennsylvania Academy of Dermatology
  • American Medical Association

Dr. Berman currently holds staff privileges at all of the local area hospitals, including York Hospital, Memorial Hospital, HealthSouth of York, Hanover Hospital and Gettysburg Hospital.  He also participates in the York Hospital dermatology clinic and provides dermatology training for medical residents from the various hospitals.

Dr. Berman is a founding partner of Dermatology Associates of York, Inc., and has been practicing in the York community since July, 1978.

JOHN G. STONER, M.D.
Dr. Stoner is a native of Cleveland, Ohio, where he went to Case
Western Reserve Medical School. He completed his dermatology training at the University of Michigan. This was followed by board certification in dermatology.  He subsequently completed a fellowship in dermatologic surgery and Mohs surgery at the same university.

Following his dermatologic surgery fellowship, he served on the faculty at the University of Michigan. He was also an Assistant Professor at both Johns Hopkins and Hershey Medical Center. He served as Chief of Dermatologic Surgery at Johns Hopkins for 5 years and he has held the position of Chief of Dermatology at York Hospital.

Dr. Stoner joined Dermatology Associates of York, Inc. in July 1983. Dr. Stoner is an accomplished dermatologic surgeon and was the first person in central PA to perform Mohs microscopic surgery, a highly technical and precise way to remove and cure skin cancers.

He is a member of numerous professional organizations which include:

Dr. Stoner participates in the York Hospital dermatology clinic and was instrumental in setting up annual skin cancer screening clinics for the community.  In the past, Dr. Stoner assisted in providing dermatology training to medical students from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, The University of Maryland, and the Philadelphia Osteopathic School of Medicine. He currently is involved with training programs through the local area hospitals.     

In addition to his office practices, Dr. Stoner also serves as a member of the dermatology department at all of the area hospitals, including York Hospital, Memorial Hospital, Hanover Hospital, Gettysburg Hospital and HealthSouth of York.

 

 

 


STEVEN E. CAPLAN, M.D.
Dr. Caplan is a graduate of the
University of Pennsylvania and New York University School of Medicine. He completed his internship at Johns Hopkins Bayview/FSK Medical Center and received his dermatology training at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

Dr. Caplan is on staff at both of York’s premier hospitals, York Hospital and Memorial Hospital.  He is currently serving as Chief of Dermatology at York Hospital.  He participates in the York Hospital dermatology clinic and is active in providing dermatology training for family practice residents from these hospitals.  Dr. Caplan also serves on the staff of HealthSouth of York as well as Hanover Hospital and Gettysburg Hospital.

 

Dr. Caplan is Board Certified in dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology and holds memberships in several specialty associations including:

  • American Society of Dermatologic Surgery
  • American Society of Cosmetic Dermatology and Aesthetic Surgery

Dr. Caplan has a special interest in the use of Botox injections for cosmetic purposes and in the treatment of hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).

Dr. Caplan joined Dermatology Associates of York, Inc. in July 1996.  He was instrumental in establishing the Center for Cosmetic Dermatology, a division of Dermatology Associates, in August 2004. 

LAURA S. SPEARS, M.D.
Dr. Spears is a graduate of Brown
University and The University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. She completed her dermatology residency at S.U.N.Y. Buffalo. Prior to her joining Dermatology Associates, she worked as a staff dermatologist for the Veterans Hospital in Lebanon. 

Dr. Spears currently serves on the staff at all of the area hospitals, including York Hospital, Memorial Hospital, HealthSouth of York, Hanover Hospital and Gettysburg Hospital.  She actively participates in the dermatology clinic at York Hospital and in providing dermatology training to the medical residents from the various hospitals.

Dr. Spears is fully credentialed, including board certification by the American Board of Dermatology, and has active memberships in numerous professional organizations.

Dr. Spears joined Dermatology Associates of York in July, 1985.

 

Nationally-Certified Physician Assistants

BEVERLY D. CONNOLLY, PA-C
Beverly received her Bachelors Degree from the University of Wisconsin, her Masters Degree from Purdue University, and her Physician Assistant Degree from Hahnemann University. Before joining our practice, she worked in a private dermatology office in Anchorage, Alaska and spent several years as a teacher.
This background serves to enhance her ability to communicate with her patients.

Beverly is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants and the Pennsylvania Society of Physician Assistants.

Beverly joined Dermatology Associates of York in January, 2001.

GREG S. FORSYTH, PA-C
Greg received his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska Medical School.  He retired from the United States Air Force in 2003, where he spent the last ten of his 24 years of service within the Dermatology, Family Practice and Internal Medicine clinics.  Before joining our practice, he worked for a solo dermatology practice in Central Pennsylvania for over three years.  Greg's passion for cosmetic dermatology, proper skin care, and laser/surgical interventions complement his focus on the individual needs of each patient.

Greg joined Dermatology Associates of York in June, 2007.
